Samsung Develops High-speed Application Processor for Mobile Solutions

Samsung has developed a high-speed application processor S3C2443 for personal navigation and mobile devices. The S3C2443, using the ARM920T processor core, is able to operate at 533MHz in addition to supporting various interface options, such as GPS, Mobile TV, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth. Moreover, S3C2443 features a color space conversion hardware accelerator, which enables mobile TV functions in T-DMB and DVB-H formats on devices without the need of external multimedia hardware chips. S3C2443 also supports MLC (Multi-Level Cell) NAND Flash and offers connectivity options including USB2.0 device, compact flash interface, high-speed MMC (MultiMediaCard) interface, and CE-ATA interface. The S3C2443 application processor has entered volume production.
